Oak tree bid

Tenterden Town Council (TTC) is attempting to save a tree that has stood for hundreds of years.

The authority is moving to protect the oak tree, believed to be more than 300 years old, on the buffer zone between the Kiln Field nature reserve and a 100-home estate being built by developers Redrow.

In a statement, the town council said it will be seeking a meeting with Redrow and Ashford Borough Council to “find a mutually agreeable way forward”.
