Crash probe on main road

A man has been arrested after a car failed to stop following a crash in Ashford.

Police are appealing for information following the collision in Chart Road.

The incident saw a silver Mercedes C-Class collide with a Volkswagen Golf, before the Mercedes reportedly left the scene without stopping.

Officers are looking to hear from anyone who may have information on the incident, which happened at 9pm on Friday, as well as any dashcam footage from the surrounding area.

They are particularly keen to speak to two witnesses who spoke to officers shortly after the crash, but who left before their details were taken.

The man who was arrested in connection with the incident has been released under investigation.

At about 5pm on Friday, the air ambulance landed on a field off Stanhope Road, close to the John Wallis Academy, following an incident nearby.
