Drug arrests as bag found
Two suspected drug dealers have been arrested after officers discovered a shopping bag filled with cannabis.
At about 3.30pm on Monday, police were on patrol in Stanhope Road when they became aware of possible drug dealing.
Despite attempting to run away when approached by officers, a man was apprehended and detained with the assistance of a member of the public.
Mobile phones and a large sandwich bag filled with cannabis were recovered at the scene.
A man, who is in his 20s and from the Ashford area, was arrested on suspicion of possessing drugs with intent to supply.
He has since been released under investigation.
As part of inquiries, a search was carried out at a property in the Stanhope area, which resulted in officers seizing a large bag for life containing more than two kilos of cannabis.
A woman in her 50s was arrested and released on bail.
