HGV drivers deserve better

-

I am a HGV driver based in

Kent and I am disgusted and embarrassed to be from Kent when our county council is ripping the poor HGV drivers and companies off.

Driving a HGV is no longer a job to enjoy, we have to live in our trucks all week and at night when we should be resting we lay in our beds inside our cabs just waiting to have our loads or fuel stolen.

There was nowhere near enough parking in Kent with the laybys before the council started shutting them.

How can the council close parking for trucks without supplying alternative parking facilities?

Everything we buy is moved by trucks but no one thinks about that.

Why are we, the law abiding citizens, ignored when we all need trucks to keep the shops full, the hospitals serviced, even the grit on the roads spread by the council gritters is trucked in from up north.

Please get a grip Kent County Council, show compassion and be civil - help the truckers by stopping clamping them.

In the long run, the charges you apply to the trucks will be reflected in the cost of living in Kent.
