Litter in our lanes is a very sad sight

- Bryan Hall

I am very fortunate to live less than 100 metres from open countryside, so regularly walk down to and beyond Eastwell Church and lake. On Saturday afternoon, I collected a full bag of discarded items - mostly easily recyclable - on a walk of about one kilometre.

My feelings about those who throw this into the road and hedges are unprintable.

It is sheer selfish laziness not to bag it in your car and dispose of correctly at home.

Unfortunately I think that your readers care enough about their local environment not to do this so I am preaching to the converted. Parents set the example and this should be backed up at schools from an early age.
