People will flock back to shops
I can’t say I miss going to the pub like your reader Brian Roberts, who enjoys the social aspect of communicating with people but has been cruelly
denied that source of pleasure due to the implementation of lockdown.
What I yearn for is the reopening of coffee shops, where my preferred beverage can be consumed whilst I gather my thoughts in the company of fellow devotees of the bean. Usually, the coffee outlet is the starting point for my wander around the charity shops where I like to browse at the books with a mind to buying
one should the author I sought appears on the shelf.
I still recall the excitement I felt the day I saw two paperbacks by my favourite author which I’d never read but I knew were out of print since
I’d tried ordering them through a high street book store.
When restrictions are finally lifted, I predict a surge of people flocking to the shops, pubs, etc. to renew their acquaintance with retailers that
can be engaged with in the flesh rather than online.
