The chill can’t stop Haynes

Keith Haynes achieved an impressive time representing Ashford Striders at the Hastings Half-Marathon last weekend.

The sea winds were biting on Sunday, despite the sunshine, with Haynes finishing in 1hr38min00sec.

He was followed by Scott Hawkins (2:15.08, PB), Mandy Cooper (2:16.47) and Dee Millen (2:34.19, PB).

Six Striders took part in the final Trosley Park 10k Challenge.

Adam Thomas was the quickest Ashford Striders runner in 1:14.47, followed by Kay Hunt in 1:14.48 and Sharon Gardner, who timed 1:32.15.

Caroline Miller, Victoria Shrubsole and Sharni Copham all ran identical times of 1:32.16.

The Saxons, Vikings and Normans Cakethon at Samphire Hoe saw runners given six hours to complete as many three-mile-plus laps as possible amid fierce sea gales.

Andy Found completed two laps, while Ned Golding, Vicky Stevenson, Rebecca James, Vicky Shrubsole, Sharon Gardner, Andrew Cornwell and Jayne Hatton did four.

Alex Wingrove managed five and Jamie Barlett, Lucie Shrubsole and Rhiannon Little six.

Josh Stephens completed what was his third marathon distance this month, running eight laps.
