Sky High fun

-

The skies over Kent will come alive this weekend as the South East Airshow returns. After a 20-year break, Manston Airport will welcome some of the world’s greatest modern and historic aircraft for some dazzling displays. One of the most distinctive will be the colourful (and seriously loud) Miss Demeanour, a restored Hawker Hunter jet fighter first commissioned by the RAF in 1956. Other well-known aeroplanes flying into action will be the iconic Vulcan, a Spitfire and a Hurricane, while helicopters will include the Sea King and Apache. Helicopter flights will be available throughout the day at an extra charge. Not all of the action is in the air, with a host of entertainment for visitors to enjoy, including a Typhoon aircraft simulator, fun fair and stalls. There will also be a Second World War re-enactment, and vintage motors on show, thanks to the Ramsgate Old Motor and Motorcycle Club. Kent acoustic trio Hang 10 will be among the acts performing on the live music stage, and animal lovers will enjoy an energetic display from dog agility group Make It Fun, who will be putting their four-legged friends through their paces. Organiser Angela Sutton said: “It is brilliant to see the airshow return to Manston after such a long absence. We are all so grateful to the airport for hosting what I know will be a stunning event.”
