Looking back at Antarctica
An academic descended from Edward Wilson, the first medical doctor to reach the South Pole, is giving a lecture titled Scott & Shackleton: Knights Of The Antarctic at the Historic Dockyard Chatham. Dr David Wilson will explore the expeditions of Captain Scott and Sir Ernest Shackleton and the often heated relationship between them, along with the mediation of his great uncle Edward. The talk has been organised to coincide with the Exploring Antarctica: The Final Expeditions of Scott and Shackleton exhibition at the dockyard, which tells the duo’s stories using a series of historic photographs. It starts at 7pm on Thursday, June 27. Tickets cost £12.50 for the lecture only and £22.50 for an additional fish and chip before the lecture. Book on 01634 823852.
