THE VALUE OF Funny BOOKS

Michael was Children’s Laureate from 2007 to 2009, and one of his proudest achievements was inventing the Roald Dahl Funny Prize. He said: “I felt it was important to say that some books are brilliant, not because they deal with issues, but because they are funny. Children love Roald Dahl as his books feel like someone is on their side, and they are laughing together. The best way to get children to read and write, is for them to enjoy reading.”
