african musician atongo Zimba will be bringing his sound to Kent. Born in Ghana in 1967, atongo was taught to play the twostringed calabash lute by his grandfather and began composing songs while minding the family’s cows. atongo left home to pursue a career in music and has released five albums and performed at festivals all over the world. He is visiting Kent as part of the equator festival. See him perform at St Mary’s Church, ashford, from 7.30pm on Friday, June 21, from £3. He will also be at The Brook Theatre, Chatham, from 7.30pm on Saturday, June 22, from £4.
