african mu­si­cian atongo Zimba will be bring­ing his sound to Kent. Born in Ghana in 1967, atongo was taught to play the twostringe­d cal­abash lute by his grand­fa­ther and be­gan com­pos­ing songs while mind­ing the fam­ily’s cows. atongo left home to pur­sue a ca­reer in mu­sic and has re­leased five al­bums and per­formed at fes­ti­vals all over the world. He is vis­it­ing Kent as part of the equa­tor fes­ti­val. See him per­form at St Mary’s Church, ash­ford, from 7.30pm on Fri­day, June 21, from £3. He will also be at The Brook Theatre, Chatham, from 7.30pm on Satur­day, June 22, from £4.
