A castle for bugs

-

Newly-built Bugdiam Castle will be officially unveiled at Bodiam Castle’s Wildlife Weekend. The mini castle, designed for insects and complete with its own drawbridge, has been made with off-cuts of wood from the surrounding estate. Visitors to the castle will also be able to enjoy a variety of activities and displays during the special event on Saturday, June 29 and Sunday, June 30. The Hawking Centre will be displaying some of its birds of prey, reptiles and spiders and bat expert Karen Hammond will be bringing along some of her winged friends. There will also be have-a-go craft activities, a bug hunt and the chance to do some bird spotting. The event is free after normal admission but there is a small charge for craft activities. Bodiam Castle is open from 10.30am to 5pm. Admission is priced £6.70 for adults, £3.35 for children, and £16.75 for a family. Call 01580 830196.
