A la carte theatre
Unique family-theatre experience The Incredible Book Eating Boy is coming to the county. It tells the story of a little boy called Henry who has a voracious appetite for books - literally. And the more books he eats, the smarter he gets. An adaptation of Oliver Jeffers’ award-winning children’s book, each show has an audience of just one or two people, who watch it from inside a small black box. The tale is brought to life using puppetry and physical theatre accompanied by a pre-recorded soundtrack. Each show is five minutes long, with admission for one child and an accompanying adult, or just one adult, at a time. It is suitable for four years and over, and will be at Canterbury’s Gulbenkian Theatre on Saturday, June 29, with performances from 10am to 2pm. Tickets cost £6, to include admission for a child and adult, or for an individual adult. Call 01227 769075. BLOB: Children aged from four to seven are also invited to take place in an interactive workshop at 2.30pm. They will have the opportunity to work together and make their own books. It lasts 90 minutes, and children must be accompanied by an adult. Tickets cost £6.
