Kentish Express Ashford & District - What's On

Compilation CD a labour of love

- Garry

After hearing that eight out of 10 new mums listen to music as they give birth, we thought we should all put our heads together to compile Now That’s What I Call A Baby. Songs ideal for that magical moment. Loads of listeners from across Kent helped out. Elaine suggested If I Could Turn Back Time. Danni chose Let It Go! from Frozen. Debbie’s going with Diana Ross and I’m Coming Out. Alexander’s going with Sex On Fire. Baby by Justin Bieber was a popular choice. Tina told us her baby arrived to Boyzone’s Baby Can I Hold You. We heard from Claire who actually gave birth to son Christopher to the strains of Medway Maritime’s Hospital Radio playing Who Let The Dogs Out. Her husband, Peter,

In a wonderful twist of irony, Salt n Pepa’s Push It blasted from the radio just as Jess from Herne Bay really needed encouragement, and Angie in Folkestone’s new arrival was heralded by The Verve’s Drugs Don’t Work. Kiera bought a sense of reason to the show when she told us: “I had the radio on in the background when I gave birth to my son on Tuesday. God knows what song was playing though. I was too out of it on gas and air to remember!” Dazzy suggested, for our compilation, the Theme from The Dambusters. That should be piped through all hospital delivery rooms. This album will go to No. 1. This time next year we’ll all be

millionaires.

As I write we’re waiting to see how they’ll do in the semifinal so by the time you’re reading this anything could have happened. So may I offer my hearty congratulations*/heartfelt commiserations *(delete as applicable*).
