Kentish Express Ashford & District - What's On

IN THE CLUB

-

Comedian Karen Bayley made a name for herself early on in her career in the BBC New Comedy Awards before winning the 2001 Komedia New Act prize. Delightfully saucy, she will be delivering some devastating one-liners as host got the Comedy Club in Ashford on Friday, June 29. A comedic force to be reckoned with, her bold, no-nonsense attitude strikes a perfect pitch with men and women alike. She comes to Ashford fresh from recently supporting Joe Lycett on his tour.

The opening comedian for the night will be Matthew Osborn, highly respected by fellow comedians and a favourite with audiences. Matthew started on the comedy circuit in 2002 and went on to win the So You Think You’re Funny award. In 2003 he was named Chortle Best Newcomer and has since gone on to perform throughout the UK circuit and has supported Harry Hill and Al Murray on tour. He’s played to audiences in the Riviera, Monaco, Belgium and Slovenia and has supported Harry Hill and Al Murray on tour. Headlining will be Pierre Hollins, an unsung hero of comedy, who has been wowing audiences for many years, and still appears as fresh today as the day he started.

Described by the Daily Mirror as “comedy rock and roll heaven”, his act is enhanced by the invention of an electric squash racket that allows him to fulfil every wannabe rock star’s dream –and then destroy it. Described by himself as “far-fetched and slightly dangerous”, Pierre remains a little bit of both.

The Comedy Club Ashford will be at the Ashford International Hotel in Simone Weil Avenue, Ashford, on Friday, June 29. The Comedy Club organises regular events throughout the year, including at Ashford and also in Chatham at Bridgewood Manor. The club features three professional comedians with tickets costing £27 including a two course meal and £20 for the comedy. To book, call the box office on 01233 219988 or go to thecomedyclub.co.uk.
