A stylish 40s salute
Want to travel back in time to the 1940s? Vintage hairstyles and fashions, music and retro moves will be served up in spades at the Historic Dockyard Chatham’s annual Salute to the 40s on Saturday, September 15 and Sunday, September 16.
Back bigger and better than ever, the dockyard will have vintage sounds playing, from the Glenn Miller Orchestra UK, the Polka Dots Dolls, the D-day Darlings from Britain’s Got Talent, and more.
If you’re still perfecting your retro outfit, there will be plenty of shopping opportunities and for those that want the 1940s experience, you can also get your hair styled in the salon or barbers. Vintage cocktails and bars will be on offer around the site, and fear not - it may be marking the 1940s, but there are no rations here! Visit the tea rooms, or try a homemade pie. The family fun includes parades, running steam trains and the usual dockyard galleries.
