1. CHARITY CRAFT FAIR ASHFORD

Help support the work of the Pilgrim’s Hospice by visiting the craft fair at Godinton Village Hall in Loudon Way, Ashford on Saturday, November 17. The event from 2pm to 5pm will feature local makers selling homemade quality crafts from fused glass and silver jewellery to hand-sewn bags and cushions. Pop in for a coffee and browse. 2. 5,000 POPPIES MAIDSTONE

There are some 5,000 poppies on show at Maidstone Museum between now and Friday, December 21, crafted by local people. Taking inspiratio­n from a small Australian community project, 5,000 Poppies has become an internatio­nal project in commemorat­ion of the Armistice centenary. All poppies will be donated to the Royal British Legion to help with their poppy appeal in 2019.

3. HOW TO HIDE A LION MARGATE

Helen Stephen’s magical book How to Hide a Lion will come to life at the Theatre Royal Margate on Sunday, November 18 from 2.30pm. When a lion is chased out of town, a young girl helps him find somewhere to hide. But lt’s not easy - lions are too big, too fluffy and too heavy! 4. PICTURE BOOKS FOLKESTONE

He’s created some of the most popular children’s picture books of all time, including Voices in the Park, Gorilla, Willy the Wimp and Zoo. Now you can join a family-friendly talk by Anthony Browne at Folkestone Quarterhou­se as part of the Folkestone Book Festival on Saturday, November 17 at 11.30am.
