Love to get stuck into a good book over the holidays? Then the Folkestone Book Festival, which continues this weekend, will give you some inspiratio­n.

Speakers from the world of science, history and politics will be provoking discussion and discovery at the final weekend of this year’s Folkestone Book Festival. The festival will bee in Folkestone’s Creative Quarter until Sundday, November 25, with author talks, thought-provoking discussion­s, family events and workshops.

The author of numerous witty books for adults and children, Posy Simmonds – with her latest offering, Cassandra Darke – puts a magnifying glass on British society and domestic life on Friday, November 23 at 7.30pm. Author Matt Haig speaks on Saturday,s November 24, with a talk ono his third book in the series, Father Christmas and Mee, at 10.30am, annd is back att 1.30pm talking about howh to feel happy, human and whole in the 21st century, with his book Notes on a Nervous Planet. A Tale of Three Cities, on Saturday, November 24 at 7.30pm, while millionsel­ling Pinkerton Mystery author Caroline Lawrence will be giving tips on How to Write a Great Story at 11am. Journalist and eco lifestyle expert Lucy Siegle, pictured right, – and author of Turning the Tide on Plastic – will be providing a powerful call to arms to end the plastic pandemic with her clear-eyed, authoritat­ive and accessible guide to taking personal action from noon on Saturday, November 24.
