Musical phenomenon Hairspray takes audiences back to the Swinging Sixties

Get ready for a brand new sound as a group of teenage trail blazers dance their way onto the stage. Smash hit musical Hairspray, which follows the fight for liberation, tolerance, and interracia­l unity in 1960s Baltimore, has been getting audiences up off their feet for more than 30 years.

When happy--go-golucky dancer Tracey Turnblaad finds herself on national televissio­n, she uses her platform to sprread the message of lovve and equality, winniing hearts - including thatt of teen idol Link Larkiin - along the way.

Lo oose Woman Brenda Edwards as Motormouth Maybelle and c omedian Norman Pa ace as Wilbur Tu urnblad.

Alex Bourne, a familiar f face in British B theatre, will w be taking on the t role of Edna

Turnblad. The character was originally performed by drag artist Divine, and famously reinvented in later years by the likes of Michael Ball and John Travolta.

Based on the 1988 film by John Waters, Hairspray opened on Broadway in 2002, followed by a West End production in 2008. Now the show is hitting the road with a nationwide tour, stopping off in Kent along the way.

With big hearts, and even bigger hair, Hairspray is a fun-filled show with colourful costumes and dizzying dance moves that will have you doing the twist in no time.
