Miles brothers are kept busy

Angling

-

COOLer mornings and evenings have complemented bright and sunny days in a busy and successful period on our local waters, brothers andrew and David Miles fished in the river Stour at Fordwich to record fine catches. andrew banked chub of 6lb and 4lb, along with bream to 6lb, all taken on legered bread. In a similar style, David took four more chub to 5lb. adjacent to the river, Fordwich Lake played host to Paul Minter who caught six carp to 26lb from the ‘deeps’. Minter used fishmeal boilies over pellet to catch his weighty haul. In the same complex of lakes, Stour Lake was fished by Darren Offen where he used boilies at close range to reel in a 22lb common carp. trenley Lake produced 22 bream to 5.5lb for Dave Murray using feederfished soft pellets. Paul Davies also used a feeder rod but with artificial (plastic) sweetcorn to record 20 bream and four tench to 6lb. at Grove Lake, Steve Heckley enjoyed two superb short evenings using floating bread to account for 30 carp including many double figure fish. anglers at Minster are continuing to ‘bag-up’ with huge catches and the best fish are being caught tight to the margins during the early morning or late evening. this year’s Canterbury & District angling association Open will be fished on the river Stour on Sunday. the competition is open to members and non-members of the association. the draw will take place at 8am and fishing will be from 10am-4pm at both Grove Ferry and Plucks Gutter. anglers can turn up on Sunday morning for the draw.
