TIME is running out for nominations to be made for this year’s Canterbury and District Sports Awards. Held in association with Matt Fiddes Martial Arts Kent, the awards are the largest of their kind in the area and the deadline for nominations for this year’s event is midnight on Sunday. Rosy Lamb, of Canterbury City Council, said: “We know there’s a wealth of talent and commitment in community sport across the district and we want the stars to be placed in the spotlight. “From athletes and coaches to officials and administrators, the awards are the only event in the Canterbury area to recognise achievements across all sports and all areas of the sports sector. “The awards night is a gathering of the highest achievers in sport, as well as senior figures from within sporting organisations, including sports providers, practitioners, health, public and education sectors. “The awards will take place at the Kings Hall, Herne Bay, on Friday, October 26 and we would like to ensure that local clubs and individuals are recognised for their role within the local community.” The awards evening includes a three-course dinner, champagne drinks reception and sporting demonstration by the district’s next generation of sporting talent. A limited number of tickets are still available for general sale and for sports clubs by contacting Giles Seaford on 01227 862524 or by emailing giles. seaford@ canterbury.gov.uk
