Title hopes on course after Rob’s victory

TITLE-CHASING Monument had to come from behind to win 6-5 at home to the Four Fathoms A in the Herne Bay & District Winter Darts League.

Having fought back from 5-3 down to level, the decisive last singles game saw Rob Hards put in a man-of-thematch display to defeat Fathoms’ Matt Nye 2-1.

Reigning champions and leaders Divers Arms A returned to winning ways with a 7-4 away victory over the Heron A.

Man-of-the-match Dean Owen registered a 100 checkout and a 180 while Divers’ Graham Kember also weighed-in with a maximum.

The Smugglers Inn stayed on level points with the Monument and Divers Arms A with a 10-1 away win over the Chislet Colliery Club.

Steve Peacock hit a maximum 180 while man-of-the-match Liam Moran checked-out 133.

The Angling Club’s fine form continued as they won 9-2 at Four Fathoms B to move fourth and put some breathing space between themselves and the relegation zone.

Man-of-the-match Dan Parker hit two maximum 180s while team-mate William Weller hit one and Fathoms duo Tom McGorrin and Mike Brett threw a maximum apiece.

Peter Gallacher checked-out on 117 for the Angling Club. The top-game in Division 1 saw third-placed Druids Head upset by fourth-placed Rising Sun B 5-4, despite maximums from Wesley King and Dan Chance.

Second-placed Rising Sun A came from behind to beat winless Heron B 5-4, with Stacy Iddenden edging Heron’s Jason Gordon 2-1.

Run of the Mill C continued their march toward promotion with a 7-2 win at Huntsman & Horn, with Wayne Stemp putting in a man-of-the-match performanc­e, including a 121 checkout.

TWO Brewers B beat rivals Two Brewers A 17-8 to win the clash of the winless sides at the foot of the Whitstable & District Thursday Night Darts League.

Jamie Evans was B’s form man, winning all five, with Lee Hancock notching four wins but only Nick Axford had a winning week for the pointless A team.

At the top, East Kent continued to steamrolle­r their rivals, beating New Inn 17-8.

Skipper Dean Owen had a 100% night, well supported by Nick Holness with four. Clive Brown, though, put up some stiff resistance with four wins for Inners.

Smack stay second after their 14-11 over Wall Tavern, Dave Barton leading the way with four wins and a 132 checkout.

The Wall saw a sparkling effort from Nigel Borg with five wins and five 140s and Dave Moulding with four wins and two 180s. Monument C moved into third with a 15-10 success over Homing Club.

Dan Thompson was the star with five wins, although newcomer Pete Sage won four for the Homing Boys, while Monument A beat Four Horseshoes 18-7.
