There was a double celebratio­n when Chislet Colliery Bowls Club hosted the Jim Harlow’s Hospice Triples Tournament.

The club is 75 years old and this year is the tournament’s 10th anniversar­y.

Chislet’s Stan Knott skipped the winning team, while third place went to a second triple from Chislet, skipped by Jack Cramp.

The tournament featured 24 mixed triples playing three 10-end games. The action ran from 9.30am to 4.10pm and a Whitstable team finished runners-up.

Presentati­ons were made by the Hospice’s chief executive, Steve Auty, and £1,214.60 was raised on the day.

Chislet welcomed Dane Park for the return leg of the Catherine Wheeler league fixture and the visitors claimed a narrow victory.
