Presenter marries in Cathedral service

-

Actress and TV presenter Emma Noble married in Canterbury Cathedral on Saturday.

The 42-year-old wed former King’s School pupil Conrad Baker, 29, who is the son of a diplomat and runs a catering firm.

The service was held in the Crypt and Emma wore a dress by Elizabeth Emanuel.

Only certain people can apply to be married at the Cathedral, including former scholars of King’s School or choristers.

Mrs Noble married John Major’s son James in 1999 and they have a son.

She now also has a two-yearold son with her new husband.

Her career has included a stint on The Price Is Right and reality show The Farm.

The couple held a lavish reception at Charlton Park in Bishopsbourne, which was attended by almost 100 guests.

But owner of the venue Jack Wales said: “I didn’t recognise any famous faces.” A music festival at a Canterbury school will this year raise money in memory of a four-year-old boy who touched the hearts of the nation.

Barnabas Newlyn, the son of a staff member at King’s, featured in a BBC television series at Great Ormond Street hospital and was recovering after receiving treatment there for 18 months.

But he suffered an unexpected bleed on the brain and died on Easter Sunday in the arms of his parents Craig and Becca, who live in Whitstable and have three other children, Esther, 13, Tabitha,11, and Isaac, two.

Work colleagues of Craig, who is an audiovisual technician at King’s, decided this year’s Kingsfest event, on August 24, should be in memory of Barnabas and raise money for the hospital.

Dan Rogers, from the support staff forum said: “Barnabas captured everyone’s heart. It is des- perately sad for him and his family that he should win one battle but lose the next so suddenly and unexpectedly.

“We started out wanting to thank Great Ormond Street for bringing Barnabas back to health.

“Now we are even more determined to help the hospital save children’s lives in the future.”

The event runs from 11.30am to 6.30pm and features music from Coco and the Butterfields, X-Factor contestant Ben Mills and his band, Matt Rogers, Those Distant Voices and the acoustic duo Dune. There will also be children’s activities and a hog roast and barbecue.

It is open to everyone and tickets cost £5 in advance or £7 on the day (under-13s free) from www. kingsfest2013.co.uk
