This might even get your dad on the dance floor...
Anew dance festival will take place in Canterbury in September. Kent Dancing will showcase new works by award-winning choreographers across five venues – including Dad Dancing, which encourages fathers to perform with their children.
Venues include Longmarket Square, the Beaney and Kent University’s Gulbenkian Theatre. South East Dance is putting on the festival.
Its public programme manager Louise Costelloe said: “We’re very excited to have this opportunity.
“Our programme celebrates the whole spectrum of dance from social dancing to high impact dance theatre.”
Second Hand Theatre is behind Dad Dancing.
Artistic director Rosie Heafford said: “Dad Dancing is a project that aims to champion the care, the embarrassment and love of those unique smooth moves born out of fatherhood.
“Performing at Kent Dancing is a chance for us to encourage more fathers and children to dance together.” The performances are:
ZoieLogic Dance Theatre’s Murmur – Longmarket Square, 2pm, Friday, September 6.
ZoieLogic’s Echo – Gulbenkian Theatre, 7.30pm, Friday, September 6;
