Towers hospitality plan a great idea
I’m delighted to read that Xavier German has put a bid in to reinvigorate the Westgate Towers, museum and the old city gaol (Hotel Bid For Towers/Towers Guests Would Be Able To Spend A Night In The Cells, Kentish Gazette, April 17).
What a great idea to use this iconic building for a classy restaurant and hotel. It’s exactly what the city needs and will be a most welcome addition to the St Dunstan’s area. I totally back his plans. David Lilford Palace Street, Canterbury
I think Xavier German’s idea to turn the Westgate Towers into a high-quality hospitality complex is excellent.
It is exactly the sort of bold and innovative concept that Canterbury needs. Bob Winstanley Spring Lane, Fordwich
A hotel and restaurant for the Westgate Towers complex is a fabulous idea and can’t happen fast enough. The towers look neglected and unloved. Using the cells for hotel rooms is a real attraction.
The Malmaison in Oxford has proved the point – it is always hard to get a room.
Xavier’s other businesses in Canterbury show he and his teams have what it takes to be successful.
Cafes Des Amis and Mauresque are well established with good food and a great atmosphere.
Hope he gets the chance to make the Westgate Towers something special. Things can only get better. Andria and Eddie Fowler Roper Road, Canterbury
