Gore to the fore but he cannot prevent defeat

Faversham Cricket Club, playing their first match since changing their name from Macknade last year, lost by three wickets in their opening pre-season friendly at Hythe on Saturday.

After being put into bat Faversham were dismissed for 128 in 33 overs with the main contributi­ons coming from Terry McDowell (22), Dan Sadler (20) and Lewis Gore (18).

When Hythe replied Gore also produced a fine spell of bowling taking 4-19, but it wasn’t enough to prevent the home side from winning by three wickets in the 32nd over.

Whitstable beat Nonington by one run in their opening friendly Belmont on Saturday.

Littlebour­ne Cricket Club youth section start their twice-weekly training nights next month.

The sessions, which cost £2 each, are held on Littlebour­ne Recreation Ground and all boys and girls from 5-15 are welcome to attend.

The sessions for School Years 1-6 will take place on Fridays from 5.45-7.30pm, starting on May 2, and the sessions for School Year 7 and upwards will start on May 5, again from 5.45-7.30pm. Parents are welcome to come along and support and the bar will be open from 5.45pm.
