Sun face right Royal showdown

Rising Sun will face AFC Royals in the Herne Bay & Whitstable Sunday League Challenge Cup final after convincing wins in the last four.

Riser progressed past East Kent Gills 4-2 thanks to goals from Wayne Fittall, Tom Parker, Danny Williams and Simon Brown, with Liam Campbell and Sam Wilson on the mark for Gills.

Royals had it easier against CAT Automotive­s, progressin­g 4-0 with goals from Andrew Everett, Matteo Bortesi, Peter McCarval and Tom Lilly.

Swan & Harlequin reached the Faversham Charity Cup Senior Section final with a 4-1 win against Monument Eagles.

Radi Davidov netted two and Matt Hennessy and Vasile Viorel completed the haul.

Steven Croucher’s goal earned second-bottom Cross Keys a 1-1 draw at Tankerton Royals in the Premier Division.

Gary Cooper was on target for Royals, who climbed to fourth.

Division 1 champions Faversham Strike Force put shorthande­d Falcons to the sword 11-1.

Sam Reed hit a hat- trick, Michael Rose added two and there were others for Rob Beazleigh, Dan Harris, Rob Arnold, Lee Pilford, Just Howard and Lewis Pout.

Mike Smith notched the only reply for Falcons, who began the game with only nine players and lost two more before the final whistle.

Elsewhere, Lloyd Woolford’s hat-trick ensured Northgate Rangers beat Courtenay Rangers 3-1.

In Division 2, second-bottom Courtenay Rangers Reserves suffered a 7-3 defeat to Littlebour­ne, with Jack Daniels’ double and a Liam Bestic goal all for nothing.

Hampton climbed to third in Division 3 after a 6-4 win over Bekesbourn­e Sports, who slipped to fourth on goal-difference despite Neil Turner’s double and singles from Stephen Barleycorn and Jamie Hyland.

City Firsts reached the Faversham Charity Cup Junior Section final after edging Woodman’s Hall by the odd goal in five in the semi-final.

Ben Eaglefield and Tom Cranstone were on the mark for Hall but John Bundock, Ben Rowley and James Gadd goals sealed City’s passage.

Bridge Athletic saw-off Waterfront in the Whitstable Charity Cup Junior Section.

Phil Punyer bagged a brace and Josh Levine the other in a 3-1 win while Toby Davis scored in reply.

The league stages two finals at Faversham Town’s Salters Lane Ground on Sunday.

City Firsts take on Herne in the President’s Cup final at 2pm, and that is followed at 5pm by the Fletcher Memorial Cup showdown between Rising Sun and Tankerton Royals.
