EAST KENT’S WELLER LEADS THE WAY IN A MATCH OF QUALITY SCORING Whitstable & District Thursday Night League

A quality Division 2 game stole the show as East Kent X beat Two Brewers A 14-11 in an encounter of unpreceden­ted quality, high scores and checkouts. Matt Weller won all of his five games for East Kent, also hitting a 180 and a 120 checkout, while the losing Two Brewers had 180s from Clive Brown and Steve Growns and a 174 from Dickie Tennant. Labour Club B are still unbeaten in the league after beating bottom team Labour Club C 18-7. Ollie Crocombe won all five games, while Steve Crow took four. East Kent B sunk the Two Brewers Anglers 16-9. Dan Jackson and Daniel Evans had 100% records. In Division 1, Two Brewers Q moved into second beating British Legion Wanderers 19- 6 with four wins for Pete Faulkner, Ant Warren and Richard Stepney, while Bob May hit a 180 for the Wanderers. Monument A had a good result, beating East Kent A 15-10. Nigel Boeg won five and hit a 180, while Pete Ball triumphed in four. Steve Holness had a 109 checkout for the Kent team and Dean Owen hit a 180. In the League Cup, Monument B beat British Legion B 23-2. Pete Gallagher checked out on 150 – the highest this season – and hit a 180, while Roy Gough also hit a 180. Gallagher and Gough along with Tom Hadler and Mike Cattell won all five games, while Tim Higgs and Karen Bowden had the consolatio­n of beating Dan Bergin for the Legion’s two successes. Third-placed Rising Sun continued their fine form in Division 1. Their 7- 4 win at home to secondplac­ed Chislet Colliery Club saw Riser play themselves into the promotion battle. Oliver Gilham and Chislet’s Paul Bunting each hit 180s. Unbeaten leaders Angling Club took full advantage of Chislet’s defeat with a 10-1 away win over the Catholic Club to move six points clear at the top. Matt Nye hit a maximum and checked-out on 100. The Huntsman & Horn kept their slim promotion hopes alive with a 6-5 home win over the Druids Head with Craig Reeves hitting a 180. In the Premier Division, wins went to both Divers Arms sides. Second-placed Divers Arms B hosted the Monument and came from behind to take a 5-2 lead. The Monument responded with singles wins from man-of-the-match Dave Moulding and landlord Tom Hadler but Divers secured the victory at 6- 4 through Paul Dawkins and wrapped up a 7- 4 win with Dan Parker taking the last singles game. Dawkins hit two 180s and checked out on 110, while Moulding checked out on 106 and his team-mate Royston Gough hit a maximum. Leaders Divers Arms A travelled to bottom side Golden Lion and the result went the way of the formbook as the Divers ran out 11- 0 winners. Mike Cattell hit two maximums and checked out on 126 and 112, while team-mate Dean Owen hit one 180 and checked out on 101.
