It was an exciting Saturday for some Adalta members who took part in the San Fairy Ann races at Cyclopark as this was their first Crit event.

Freya Rawlings rode strongly in the women’s race, working hard and taking third and earning some prize money for her efforts.

Ben Drew, Allan Robinson and Mark Stockley all tackled the unforgiving circuit and rode well.

Lee Mills was back in action looking strong after returning from illness, while Piers Hazelgrove improved on his last race with 13th place after the race split in half in the tough conditions.

Emma Lewis and Jo Smith sat on the line in freezing conditions for CC London E/1/2 race at Redbridge cycling centre.

With snow falling earlier in the day, the women tackled icy rain to put on an impressive team performance.

Watching the breaks, Smith slowed the chasing bunch when Lewis took her chance to break free and she kept away to take second.

Smith was rewarded with third place after winning the bunch sprint.

Craig Joy and Rod Archibald continued their season in the Surrey League at Dunsfold.

With the day looking tough in freezing conditions, Joy was dealt a cruel blow on the start line when he suffered a mechanical problem forcing him to complete the entire race in restricted gears.

Unfortunately, the pair missed the key break and despite several attempts in the first hour, Archibald was unable to bridge the gap and he rolled in to finish 26th with Joy just outside the top 30.

Wayne Beba continued his impressive early season results with a brilliant break away win in the Masters race at Cyclopark on Friday. Beba chased a lone rider to then carry on to a solo victory. Jeremy Brougham worked hard in the bunch and took eighth with Paul Philpott crossing the line with the group.
