Whitstable & Herne Bay Sunday League

-

Rising Sun won through to a fifth Kent Sunday Premier Cup final with a 3-1 semi-final win against Simla at Cherry Orchard.

Riser got off to a slow start and went 1- 0 down to the West Kent Sunday League side after just four minutes when the Tonbridge outfit scored from a speculative shot from just outside the box.

In a hard-fought but fair game, Riser gradually began to take charge and after 39 minutes levelled when Tom Parker scored a penalty after Kenny Sanders was fouled.

Riser continued their dominance in the second half and on 55 minutes Parker put them 2-1 up from a second spot-kick when a Simla defender handled the ball inside the area.

Riser increased their lead 18 minutes from time when Stacey Davis turned in from close range after a fine move down the right wing and a superb cross found Davis on the edge of the six-yard box.

Riser’s success in league and cup competitions so far this season is due to an all-round squad performance over the course of the season.

Riser now face holders Quested in the final at Maidstone United’s Gallagher Stadium on April 17 after the Medway Sunday League side beat Monument PFC 3-1 with Joe Smith’s goal in vain.

Faversham Strike Force Reserves booked their place in the Presidents Cup final with a 3-1 win over Littlebourne Reserves courtesy of goals from Bradley Falconer, Ali Adams and Hiwa Zrori.

In the Junior Section semi-final of the Faversham Charity Cup, Chislet CW beat City Lions 6-1 with a hat-trick from Jack Winder, a double from Dean Brookman and a Barnaby Loader single.

In the Herne Bay & Whitstable Sunday League Premier Division, Jack Payne scored twice as Chartham beat Tankerton Royals 4- 0, Daniel Parrett and Adam Garland getting the others.

Steve Best and Peter Sharpless scored two each as Spartan beat CAT Automotives 5- 0 in Division 1, Bill Purdy adding the other.

Goals from Gwen Laglois, Olav Nirdhem and Ash Stevens were in vain for Northgate Rangers as they were edged out by the odd goal in seven in Division 2.
