Catch a rising star

-

The Whitstable Sessions Music Club has earned a reputation as the place to go for acoustic music.

The venue, upstairs at the Royal Native Oyster Stores, and the club’s atmosphere frequently earn praise from artists and audiences alike.

The next session, on Friday, April 8, continues this tradition for high-quality music when the club plays host to up-and-coming American roots singer Bronwynne Brent.

Originally from the Mississippi Delta, Brent’s music has been described as folkish and bluesy, while her voice likened to that of Billie Holiday and Amy Winehouse.

She made a major Stateside impact with the release of her stunning Deep Black Water album back in 2011.

When her equallyimpressive follow up, Stardust, hit the UK in 2014, radio presenters and writers began to sing her praises here too. Bob Harris was first to declare himself a fan, playing tracks on his BBC Radio 2 shows and repeatedly telling listeners he thought her music was “absolutely gorgeous – really special!”

Tickets are available from Rock Bottom Records in Whitstable and online at www. wegottickets.com.

Full details of this and all forthcoming sessions are available on the club’s website at www. whitstablesessions.co.uk.
