Dancing together
The Canterbury Players will return to the Playhouse Theatre in Whitstable next month with a new production.
They will perform Dancing at Lughnasa by Brian Friel, a story told through the eyes of seven-year-old Michael.
The award-winning play follows the relationships and tensions of five unmarried sisters living in rural Ireland in 1936.
They laugh, cry and dance together at a time when life is simple, but making ends meet seems hard.
Their lives are changed when their brother returns from missionary work in Africa and then Michael’s father arrives unexpectedly.
Director Jill Akhurst said: “We are pleased to be back at the Playhouse. It is an intimate theatre which suits the play.
“The theatre staff are always helpful and the audiences are warm and encouraging.”
Performances of Dancing at Lughnasa will be from Thursday, April 7, to Saturday, April 9, at 7.45pm each evening.
Tickets are £10 from the box office on 01227 272042 or at www.playhousewhitstable. co.uk.
