Canterbury City’s disability team returned to action as the Kent Disability Football League resumed. Matthew Biggs and Tiffany Walsh made their debuts in a 0-0 draw against Bromley Green with City’s only chance of the game hitting the woodwork. City laid siege to the Maidstone goal in game two and Nathan Russell scored after two minutes. Soon after, Josh Russell intercepted a ball in his own half, beat two Maidstone players and shot into the top right corner. Maidstone tried to get back in the game but City capitalised on the space left at the back and, after Matt Roberts had a shot blocked, the ball fell to Kieron Edwards to slot home to end his 18-month goal drought and seal a 3-0 win. City needed to beat secondplaced Milton & Fulton Spiders to climb above them in the table but from the off the Spiders attacked the City goal. The City defence stood firm, though, and City went on the attack with Nathan Russell heading in from a throw from brother Josh Russell to put them ahead. Chris Wright in City’s goal was beaten as Spiders battled back but with less than a minute to go, Nathan Russell scored the winner. Runaway leaders Charlton Ability finished the day with a 2-0 win over City in an end-to-end game, leaving Canterbury three points clear of Milton going into the next round at the Abbey School, Faversham, on April 9. City: Chris Wright, Chris Taylor, Paul Bowman, Josh Russell, Nathan Russell, Matt Roberts, Matthew Biggs. Tiffany Walsh.
