Season’s progress celebrated by club
Faversham Strike Force
Faversham Strike Force celebrated another outstanding season, at the club’s annual presentation night.
More 300 people attended as players and coaches were recognised for their contribution during the 201516 campaign.
Among those to receive awards were under-16 Adam Benfield, who has already clocked up a decade of service with the club and the following, all of whom have completed five years: Henry Smith, Taylor Angrabeit, Isabella Turner, Jack Monk, Zackary Megbele, Isaac Waters, Kado Bateman and Henry Martin.
Tom Carey and Tom Barton represented the Kent FA and won the South East Counties Championship as well as playing games against Brighton and Charlton, while under-14 Tyler Griffiths – who has been helping with the under-6s – has reached 25 hours’ volunteering as part of the FA Football Futures programme.
Lee Suter picked up the Brian Cornish Memorial award for outstanding contribution to the club over the season.
Club manager Gary Axford said “This is always a special occasion and it is brilliant that the whole club family came together to celebrate individual and club achievements.
“This has been another amazing year. We now have players from under-6s through to three senior teams who are represented in countywide competitions, which is a remarkable achievement and opportunity for the club and community.
“We have our own facilities, a brilliant volunteer workforce, we have secured a partnership with a international brand in Nike and next season we will have a ladies’ team.
“This club doesn’t stand still. Each year this club progresses and gets even better.”
Mr Axford thanked the Abbey School for the use of their facilities and also Faversham Trophies.
