Fine displays in synchro championsh­ips

Young Faversham swimmers shone as the club hosted their annual Synchro Championsh­ips. The programme began with the figure competitio­ns in which the girls performed individual­ly, carrying out various discipline­s according to their grades. In the beginners’ 11-years and under class, Naomi Algar produced a gold medal performanc­e with a score of 50.82 and Evie Bromley’s score of 48.88 won her a silver medal. In the beginners’ over-11 years, Sophie Molton took gold with a score of 54.14 and Isobel Algar was awarded a silver medal with her score of 49.64. A gold medal went to Esme Sutherland in the juniors’ section with her score of 54.92, silver went to Louise Sharp, 54.17 and bronze to Megan Milstead with a score of 52.27. Theinterme­diate and senior girls were next up, Dervla Murphy scored 55.47 for her Ballet leg single, Dolphin and Front Pike S/S and was awarded a gold medal, closely followed by Poppy Boorman, 54.78, with Eleisha Skinner’s score of 54.21 earning her a bronze. The senior girls performed a Blossom, Back Walkover and Flamingo position and Emily Ing scored 54.66 to take the gold with Georgia Collins in silver with 51.17. Next it was the turn of the solos, duets and trio routine competitio­ns where the swimmers selected their own music and choreograp­hed the routines themselves, to be judged on execution and artistic Impression. Emily Ing again shone with her score of 56.66 winning her a solos gold, with silver awarded to Freya Scott (53.66). In the duets, Emily Ing and Dervla Murphy wowed the judges with an amazing score of 57.98 to claim gold. Eleisha Skinner and Louise Sharp took second with 54.00 and Freya Scott and Abigail Sewell claimed bronze (53.66). The trios were the last to compete and Dervla Murphy, Poppy Boorman and Emily Ing received the top score of 58.33 and a gold medal. A silver medal was awarded to Freya Scott and Abigail Sewell with a score of 53.99 while their team-mate Amber Smith watched from poolside after illness. Other synchro swimmers taking part were Katie Sutherland and Niamh Mcwey while the whole synchro team took part in one of four team displays. Cups and medals were presented by the president of Faversham Swimming Club, Sally Robertson.
