Take on our challenge to help a worthy cause
Our charity of the year wants daredevils to take part in an adrenaline fuelled challenge.
Every year, we picks a charity of the year to champion and 2017 is the turn of the Motor Neurone Disease Association, East Kent Group.
The organisation is now looking for people to take part in the KM Abseil Challenge on their behalf on March 19.
Clive Hudson from the charity said: “We’re hoping readers will sign up.”
Those who dare to drop for the KM Abseil Challenge 2017 will scale more than 100ft at Thomas Place in Maidstone, all in the name of good causes.
On their way back down to earth, abseilers will be treated to panoramic views of the Gallagher Stadium, home to Maidstone United Football Club, as well as the rest of the county town.
The annual challenge raises thousands of pounds for charitable organisations and provides the perfect setting for team-building and networking exercises.
Dominic Comins, events manager at the KM Charity Team which organises the event, said: “The Maidstone Abseil always serves up a fun and thrilling day out, and we greatly look forward to seeing many people take part.”
As this is a collaborative event, abseilers are expected to raise a minimum of £75 in sponsorship with 70 per cent of their sponsor- ship going to their chosen cause and the remaining 30 per cent going to a children’s literacy initiative run by the KM Charity Team.
A prize will be awarded to the highest individual fundraiser at the event.
Charities wanting to use the event to raise funds for their cause should complete the Team Up with KM page on the website kmcharityteam.co.uk.
