Leaders Market A beat Three Horseshoes B 6-3 in the Faversham League. After taking a 2-1 lead in the doubles, Market increased their advantage to 4-1 with opening singles victories from Pete Davies and Jordan Dadd. The Shoes then pulled one back with a singles win from Chris Bedo. Victories from Pat Clancy and Steve Parker got Market over the line at 6-2 but Rob Jones got a win back for Shoes. Railway had a more emphatic win, beating Three Tuns A 8-1. Highlights saw Benn Swinfield hit a maximum. Castle A started and finished strongly to beat Three Tuns B 6-3. After building a 4-0 lead, Castle then started to come under pressure. The Tuns took the next three singles through Kieran Boorman, Gary Muddiman and Clive Pout to bring the score back to 4-3 but wins for Castle’s Steve Wright and Lewis Gore put the result beyond doubt. Brents A eased to a 7-2 victory at Bull A. Highlights saw a 118 checkout from Kenny Boswell and a 100 finish from Neville Boakes. Paul Jones and Kiah Lee both hit maximums in Market B’s 7-2 win at Three Horseshoes A. There were singles wins for Market’s Richard Pennel, Craig Preston, Den Love, Jones and Lee. The Football Club beat Bull B 5-4. Bull got the better of the doubles taking a 2-1 lead. The Football Club then went on the rampage, winning the first four singles and taking an unassailab­le 5-2 lead. Singles wins came from Rhys Leader, Dan Chance, Shane Love and David Miles. The Bull finished off well, taking the last two singles through Steve Alexander and Jim Wynn. The result of the week in the final round of group matches in Herne Bay & District Winter League’s Ken Cattell Cup saw Angling Club B pull off a big shock by beating Smugglers Inn in Group A. Premier Division Smugglers took a 1-0 lead but found themselves trailing 3-2 going into the singles. An opening win from Mike Joynes extended Division 1 Anglers’ lead to 4-2. Colin Hopkins pulled one back only to see Anglers respond with a Jeff Buxton triumph. Man-of-the-match Reece Kiley took his singles game to ensure the win for Angling Club at 6-3. The Smugglers gained some consolatio­n by winning the last two singles, through Steve Walter and Nick Smith. Despite their defeat, Smugglers still qualified for the knockout stages. The Tally Ho won 8-3 at Heron to top Group A and secure one of the seeded spots in the knockout stage. Heron won the first game but Tally Ho rallied to lead 3-2 and singles victories from Jason Cork, Paul Betts and Adam
