The second league legend lost was Mervyn Halls who also played for many teams around the town. He was a highly-rated player and represented Kent. Before his illness, he finished his playing days at the Railway, winning several league and cup titles. The knockout was spread out over four venues, the Market, Three Tuns, Bull and the Railway. Normal double knockout rules applied. At the Market, the winning pair was Bob Mason from the Castle A and Paul Jones from the Market B, who defeated the pair of Craig Preston from the Market B and Max Claughton from the Three Tuns A in the final. At the Three Tuns, the winning pair was Chris Dadd from the Market A and Steve Wright from the Castle A,who beat Ben Felts from the Bull A and Gary Mullins from the Market B in the final.
