Lecture in celebration of comedian
British comedian Susan Calman will deliver the 2017 Linda Smith Lecture at the University of Kent on Tuesday, May 16.
It was established in 2015 to celebrate comedian and broadcaster Ms Smith’s life and work following her death aged just 48 in 2006.
The archiving of material from her personal collection in 2013 provided the inspiration for the formation of the British Stand-up Comedy Archive.
It is used by comedians and those researching stand-up comedy and associated performance arts.
Susan Calman is a regular panellist on The News Quiz and is well known to Radio 4 listeners.
She has also featured in two other radio series, Susan Calman is Convicted and Keep Calman Carry On, and has made TV appearances on QI and in sitcoms Fresh Meat and Dead Boss.
The Linda Smith Lecture with Susan Calman takes place at 7.30pm at the Gulbenkian Theatre, Canterbury.
Tickets cost £6 from www. thegulbenkian.co.uk.
