Whitewash seals title for holders

Iron Room A are the Canterbury & District Table Tennis Association Premier Division singles champions for the third year running. They wrapped up the title with a 9-0 whitewash of Herne Bay B, Martin Hewitt and Kevin Powell winning all their available games cleanly. Hoath A made sure of the runners-up spot by winning 8-1 away to Chestfield Warriors 1. Andy Roberts (3) and John Ferguson (3) were both unbeaten on the night and Ian Mileham chipped in with two wins. Third place went to Herne Bay A, who beat Hoath C 7-2 in their final outing of the season. Ryan Rowley was instrumental with three clean wins and he was supported by Andy Cannon and Peter Roberts with two wins each. The division’s other match saw Heron A edge past Hoath B 5-4 although Hoath gained revenge by winning the doubles. Faversham B remain top of Division 1 after a 7-2 win over Chestfield Warriors 4. Faversham are six points clear of Chestfield Warriors 3 – the only team who can catch them – after they won 6-3 at home to Iron Room C. Second-placed Chestfield Warriors signed off their season with a 6-3 win at Herne Bay C and secondbottom Choughs A upset Iron Room B to win 5-4. Chestfield Warriors 5 remain hopeful of finishing runners-up in Division 2 after they won 8-1 at home to Whitstable Natives B. Herne Bay E hold second place for now thanks to a 6-3 win at Herne Bay G while there was a 5-4 victory for Chestfield Warriors 7 against fourthplaced Faversham C. The division’s other match saw Herne Bay F win 5-4 against Blean B. Chestfield Warriors 12 had already wrapped up the Division 3 title ahead of their game against Chestfield Warrors 8 but they showed no mercy on their way to a 9-0 whitewash. Chestfield Warriors 10 continued their push to finish second with a 7-2 win over Herne Bay H while third-placed Faversham D saw off Chestfield Warriors 9. A good all-round team performance ensured Blean C finished with a 6-3 home win over Herne Bay J.
