Cup final will be between Division 1 duo

The Herne Bay and Whitstable Sunday League’s Challenge Cup trophy will bear a new name after The Elephant and Wingham won through to the final. The Elephant went through after a 5-0 semi-final victory over Premier Divison opponents Jadon Blues, who had knocked out league champions Rising Sun in the previous round. Matt Hennessey and Stefan Wall both struck twice with Kieran Amer also on target. Fellow first division side Wingham eased past Division 2 underdogs City Lions 5-2, led by Conor Weatherall’s hat-trick. Declan Wale scored the other two, while Tom Shephard and Nathan Moat replied for the Lions. The final is at Winch’s Field on May 14 (2pm). Chartham consolidat­ed their mid-table position in the Premier Division with a 4-2 home win over Tankerton Royals James Klosek scored two with the others coming from Joe Summerhaye­s and Stephen Baines. Gary Cooper and Joe Walker netted for the Royals. Ashley Tuite and Liam Wellings both hit hat-tricks as A1 Tyres eased past Woodmans Hall 8-0 in Division 1. James Hunt and Toby Winson completed the scoring. Leaders Monument Reserves edged closer to the title with a 5-1 win over Blean Sunday. James Brown and Joe Mullan both grabbed doubles with Sam Bubb also on target. Hampton pipped Northgate Rangers 2-1 in the other game. Leaders Chislet continued their pursuit of the Division 2 title with a 7-0 victory over Canterbury Toon. Mush Cakir led the way with a hat-trick. The others came from Dean Brockman, Barney Loader, Kush Nuredini and an own goal. Faversham Strike Force moved into second spot after winning 4-1 away to Faversham United. Ali Adam (2), Ollie Brown and Mahmoud Al-sadi were their scorers. Heron Athletic beat Whitstable OB 2-0 while Oare and St Stephen’s shared a 3-3 draw. Ben Rowley (2) and Olly Jones netted for Oare while James Clements, Daniel Wells and Jonny Pilcher were the St Stephen’s scorers.
