House blaze
A man in his 40s had to be treated for smoke inhalation after a house fire in the early hours of yesterday (Wednesday) morning.
Firefighters were called to the detached property in Buckland Lane, Staple, at just before 1am and went into the house wearing breathing gear.
They found the ground floor well alight but quickly extinguished the fire, before using a fan to clear smoke and fumes from the house.
A Red Cross team also attended to provide emotional and practical support to the occupants.
