Campaign starts against familiar foes

Canterbury Rugby Club will start the 2017/18 National 2 South season at home to Cinderford – the team they beat 33-30 at the Marine Travel Ground on the last day of the season just finished. Andy Pratt’s side host the Gloucester­shire outfit at Merton Lane on Saturday, September 2 and will then face the three newly-promoted sides starting with a Kent derby at Tonbridge Juddians on September 9. Coventry-based Broadstree­t, who have transferre­d from Division 2 North, are the visitors on September 16, with Old Redcliffia­ns completing the line-up for September – on the 23rd. The return fixture with Judds is on Saturday, December 23 with the new year starting with a trip to Broadstree­t (January 6). The season ends at Cinderford on April 28. Canterbury finished eighth last season – the first since Pratt’s return to the club, in the role of head of rugby.
