Henry Court Cup holders Smugglers B beat the Compasses 2-1 in the first round of this year’s competitio­n. Anthony Croucher hit 43 runs in the third leg with Tom Hibbert and Martyn Crocker each taking four traps. Five-time winners Two Brothers were eliminated by the Market Inn B but it was Division 2 side Faversham Town FC who caused the biggest upset beating Premiershi­p side Dove Inn B. Jack Stebbeds hit 34. Black Pig caused an upset by defeating Golden Lion A 2-1 led by James Stout, Nick Swinford, Tony Austin and Wayne Catherall all of whom took three traps. Littlebour­ne Rec won 2-0 at the Two Brewers A, thanks to great knocks by Terry Brockman (50) and James Edwards (40). Artichoke B moved into the last 16 with a 2-0 success over Shipwright Arms with Jamie Challis taking four traps and team-mate Darryl Joyce getting a hat-trick in the second leg. Evenhill Crusaders A lost 2-0 to Artichoke A who amassed 78 runs in the second leg. Bradley Goldup led the way with 46. In an all-division 2 clash, Kestrels won 2-0 away to Red Lion A with Dave Coombes hitting 56 out of his team’s total of 75 in the first leg. Gentil Knyght B had a 2-0 success and a 46-46 tied leg versus Castle A at the White Horse Bridge. Steve Nolan hit 41 runs including 28 in the third leg. Castle B, Red Lion B and Dover Castle all had 2-0 home victories over Alma A, Market Inn A and Dove Inn A respective­ly. Other results: Freewheel (Brian Baker five traps) lost 2-1 at home to Catholic Club; Golden Lion C beat White Horse 2-1. Fours, first round results: Faversham Town FC beat Two Brothers 2-0, Golden Lion A beat White Horse 2-0, Gentil Knyght C beat Golden Lion C 2-1.

Kings Head B survived the loss of the first leg to beat Golden Lionesses 2-1 in the first round of the ladies’ Fremlins Cup. Cheryl Collier played a key role, single-handedly scoring the 36 runs needed to take the second leg and then making the 10 required to secure the third. Team-mate Hannah Dawkins weighed in with five traps Castle B also came from behind to beat Golden Oldies 2-1 with Sarah Morhen taking three traps. Sadie Millgate scored 28 in the opening leg as Red Lion B beat Kings Head A 2-0 while Golden Lion Ladies beat Ye Olde Beverlie by the same margin. Good knocks from Tracy Butcher (19) annd Georgina Robson (20) led the Ratling Club to a 2-0 win over the Artichoke.
