Harris relishing role in the team
James Harris says the Kent dressing room is a good place to be at the moment and he is relishing the chance to be part of a team challenging for promotion. The seamer, on loan from Middlesex, returned match figures of 7-140 (3-37/4-103) against Sussex and says confidence within the camp is high after four wins from their opening five championship matches. The 27-year-old said: “I’ve loved every minute of being here so far. I was looking like being sat on the sidelines (at Middlesex) for the start of the summer so I’m thrilled to be here and trying to contribute as much as possible. “There’s confidence coming from everybody now, everyone’s getting runs, everyone’s taking wickets, it’s a good place to be at the moment. The dressing room’s great. “I can’t say how thrilled we are. Four wins from five championship games is a serious effort because it’s a hard competition to win games in. I think the boys won six last year so to win four from five is a fantastic start. We’re all proud.” Harris said the plan of attack against Sussex was quite simple – to bowl straight – and he said the bowlers got their rewards for doing so. He added: “It’s always nice to get some wickets personally but it’s been a great four days. “To turn up here on a tough wicket and take 20 wickets is a great effort and the way the batters played against their attack, which is a fine attack in its own right. It’s been a solid week all round.”
