Injured son still in hospital nine months after crash

-

Little David suffered a severe head injury and is still in a London hospital nine months after the crash, although his condition is improving.

He and his mother were flown by air ambulance from the crash scene. She suffered a severely broken leg, arm and jaw.

The family were from Hampton in Middlesex, and had been staying near Faversham before the accident.

In a statement to the inquest, Mrs Nolan said her husband was driving between 40mph and 50mph when the caravan started to weave.

“I remember Pat holding on to the wheel hard and staring straight ahead. He looked worried and then as the caravan went quickly left to right, he said, ‘I’m done. We’re bollocksed’.“

Following Mr Nolan’s death, his brother Felix said: “All the family loved Paddy very much. He was a generous man who always looked to keep the peace and was always there for you. I loved him with all my heart. If I lived to be 500, I’d never be half the man he was.”

He described the tearful reunion in hospital between Barbara and her son David, who was left fighting for life following the crash.

He said it was a “miracle” that he had survived.
