There may have been a political shock around the corner at the Westgate Hall but the river still runs through Canterbury and the dawn chorus still rings out. Reporter Dan Wright took this early morning picture after the election count on Friday election.

It’s a reminder of the importance of the local press, at a time when many national papers have become shameless propaganda sheets.
