Adding up the housing plans

Simon Cook (Letters, June 8) suggests I need a maths lesson when it comes to housing numbers. Well here are the round figures for the southern side of Canterbury:

Mountfield Park 4,000; Ridlands Farm, Telephone House and sundry other south Canterbury sites 1,000; Littlebourne Road including Howe Barracks, St Martin’s Hospital and others 1,000.

Thanington 1,150 plus Wincheap 850; Sturry and Hersden 2,000. I’m happy to go into detail but in round numbers that makes 10,000 to me.

I won’t mention a lot of smaller sites, nor the thousands of student hall of residence places at Pin Hill,
