Litter pickers bag a big haul

-

Almost 60 bags of rubbish and a pile of large items were collected from the London Road Estate during a community litter pick on Sunday morning.

The event was organised by Labour ward councillor Simon Warley, who was joined by other Canterbury councillors.

More than 30 people took part, including 12 children from the Canterbury Kids Youth Club.

Cllr Warley said: “A big thank you to everyone who came. It was a great morning’s work.”

As well as the sacks, they collected a bike, an umbrella, a chair and a shopping trolley.

Campaigner Sian Pettman said: “It really was a massive amount of rubbish. It also just goes to show that the more people you can encourage to come, the more you can collect.”
